“Good food is a basic need of human body. It is of prime importance in the completion of normal growth and development. The role of good food cannot be neglected in the promotion of health and prevention of disease.”
Today, ‘Karadant’ has become synonymous with ‘Vijaya Karadant.’ We have continued to use the original secret formula passed on through generations in the family to create the tasty Karadant. It’s the taste that lingers in your mind and keeps you coming back for more and more.
Our story is as unique as the Karadant we sell! It all began in the early 1900s in Amingad, a town in Bagalkot district. Our founder, Shri Rachappa Aiholli and his associates used to visit the gymnasium (“Garadimani”) regularly for body-building and exercise. They would consume nuts and high energy foods such as cashew nut and almonds to get adequate amounts of protein and energy.
It wasn’t long before a thought occurred to our resourceful founder. He had an idea to combine the high energy foods with edible gum (“Halige antu”) to make a delicious sweet called ‘Halige antu.” It was later named as “Karadant’ by Late Shri Savaligeppa Aiholli, who also was the first to introduce sugar-based Karadant in 1907 – a novelty at that time.
While Shri Savaligeppa pioneered the Jaggery-based Karadant, his son Basavaraja, and grandson, Santosh Aiholli, carried on the rich legacy in the name of ‘Vijaya Karadant group.’ by (LAXMI AND LAKSHMI SWEETS AND SAVIOURS) The family run business is built on the strong foundations of innovation and consistent focus on providing superior quality, all-natural and utterly delicious Karadant and other sweets.

With multiple branches in Bagalkot and Bengaluru, Vijaya Karadant is proud to be associated with the authentic and traditional sweet that our founder invented hundred years ago.
The group is now looking ahead to not only expand their foothold across the regions, but also to contribute to the society by creating a trust.
It all began with a sweet – the future at Vijaya Karadant Group – is headed towards much more sweetness and good health.
Apart from Karadant, the group has diversified into other popular sweet categories, including Jalebis, Ladagi Laddu, Til Laddu, Peanut Laddu and sugar free Karadant. For those looking for something spicy and tangy to balance the sweetness of Karadant, we offer a range of snacks in the form of Sev, Avalakki, Shenga and other snacks.
The small family-owned venture has now grown into a successful business, providing employment to hundreds of people.
From the days where about 15 kilograms of Karadant were manufactured every day with manual processes, our company has come a long way.
Modern automated methods are used to make more than 150 kilograms of Karadant each hour. The fact that we sell over 500 kilograms of Karadant each day proves how popular our Karadant is now!
